GROWING TOGETHER: The Journey Continues for ABK DBFI

The work doesn’t stop after the first sprout. Since our launch, the Agta-Bulos Kawayanan: Dumagat Bamboo Forest Initiative (ABK DBFI) has moved from planting seeds to nurturing a sustainable future through consistent care, community empowerment, and strategic monitoring.

Here is how we’ve been cultivating progress over the past few months:

September 13, 2025 – Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat. We received a turnover of high-quality seedlings to help our community expand the bamboo forest.

October 17, 2025 – Protection meets progress. During our monitoring visit, we distributed rain boots to our dedicated Dumagat partners to ensure their safety and comfort as they navigate and protect the forest.

October 27, 2025 – Knowledge is the best fertilizer. We conducted the Bamboo Nursery Establishment and Management Training, equipping the community with the technical skills to sustain the bamboo cycle independently.

February 13, 2026 – Ensuring long-term success. In coordination with BENRO, we conducted our 2nd Monitoring Visit to track the growth of our bamboo groves and address the evolving needs of the site.  

Beyond the Planting Phase

Sustainability isn’t a one-day event— it’s a daily commitment. By providing the right tools, training, and regular oversight, we are ensuring that the Kawayan, Kalikasan, at Kabuhayan advocacy takes deep root in the hearts and lands of the Dumagat community.
